Henderson Named Best Female Golfer

The Best Female Golfer award will follow anyone who achieves and Brooke Henderson is one of those players. Along with the World No. 1 Brooks Koepka, the 21-year-old Canadian was named best golfer in the female category at the annual celebration of athletes. Receiving the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award, Henderson edged out Ariya Jutanugarn, Jin-Young Ko, and Sung Hyun Park.

"Extremely honored to receive Best Female Golfer at the #ESPYS!! So cool!" said Henderson on her Twitter account.

Henderson was unable to attend the ESPY Award’s annual celebration in Los Angeles since she was competing at the Marathon Classic at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio.

Henderson has won two LPGA Tour tournaments this season, making her the most successful Canadian pro golfer with a total of nine career victories. Henderson won the Lotte Championship on April 17 and the Meijer LPGA Classic on June 13.

The other “Best Female Golfer” nominees were Ariya, Jin-Young Ko, and Hyun Park. Jutanugarn was the 2018 LPGA Player of the Year and won the Race to the CME Globe. Park has five victories since the start of 2018 and won the ESPY last year. Ko was 2018 LPGA Rookie of the Year and took the 2019 ANA Inspiration in April.
