Book 5-Under, George Shares Place In Second Position


Bogor, Indonesia, July 30: One of Indonesia's best golfers George Gandranata completed the first round in the inauguration of Gunung Geulis Golf Invitational Supported by Nomura with satisfying results. Taking place at the East Course-Gunung Geulis Golf & Country Club, George scored 65 (five-under par).


Carved two under par after four birdies reduced by two bogey on the first nine holes, 32-year-old golfer could rise in the second nine holes with an additional three birdies without even a single bogey.


"My start (starting at hole 10) is not good enough. Bogey on hole 10. After birdie on the 12th hole, I can play more calmly. On the back nine (second nine holes), my putting is more solid. "Birdie chance, I can put in three birdies," said George.


For this result, George took second place, sharing a place with Shininichi Mizuno (Japan) and Poom Pattaropong (Thailand) who also made the same score. He was three shots behind Naoki Sekito from Japan.


The 21-year-old Naoki scored 62 (eight-under par) without blemish. Carving eight birdies without a single bogey, Naoki who topped the 2019 Order of Merit The Asian Development Tour (ADT) leads while the ADT tournament with prizes totaling US $ 75,000.


"Today I managed to put the ball on the fairway in 18 holes. My approach to the green shot was very good, so it gave a lot of opportunities for birdies. Last year's experience at the East Course encouraged me to practice twice here before today's tournament. However, this year's East Course is more difficult than last year. Green is faster. The pin position is more difficult, "said Naoki, who has won one ADT (Penang Championship PGM ADT) this season and three times in the second position from six times in the 2019 ADT season.


"I am targeting champions in this tournament because Nomura, one of the companies from Japan, is the presenting sponsor of this tournament. If I win, they can be happy with this result. Because of that, I did my best to win this tournament. "


Gunung Geulis Golf Invitational Supported by Nomura which is the latest ADT tournament this season is the second stop of the Tour in Indonesia season. The top seven players in the Order of Merit ADT at the end of the 2019 season will get the chance to play on the Asian Tour for the 2020 season and winners of the Gunung Geulis Golf Invitational will bring home a cash prize of US $ 13.125.
