Sego Abang Jirak

Sego abang (brown rice in Javanese) is a typical food of Gunungkidul that offers plenty of nutrients. This rice is grown in Gogo rice fields that do not use chemical fertilizers or pesticides so is an organic product. Sego abang is served with complementary foods, such as empal (sweet and spicy fried beef dish), fried intestine, fried chicken, fried wader (stingray), vegetable Lombok ijo, trancam (a dish consisting of bean sprouts, long beans, basil leaves and finely sliced chicory), and the most famous food of Gunungkidul, fried locust! Give it a try!
