Local Food Padang
Named as the world’s best food by CNN in both 2011 and 2017, Rendang is Padang’s most famous dish. Rendang is a beef dish cooked with a mixture of herbs and spices in coconut milk. It’s cooked until the coconut milk is absorbed and the meat becomes tender. True Rendang is very dark brown or almost black in color.
Satay Padang is one of Padang’s traditional foods made from diced beef which is then charred. The satay sauce is made from broth, spicy ginger, turmeric, coriander, garlic, galangal, cumin, curry powder, salt, and rice flour, with the resulting color being like a curry sauce.
