Experience with the Europe’s Best Airline
Turkish Airlines hosted the world’s largest amateur golf competition in Indonesia. The winner of the event will meet and play with some of the world’s top golfers.
A total of 129 players, all personally invited guests, attended the 5th edition of the Turkish Airlines World Cup 2017 organized by OB Golf on September 15 at Jagorawi Golf & Country Club. The event is part of a global amateur golf competition where thousands of participants compete in qualifying events spanning over 100 locations worldwide. Golf is one of several international sports backed by Turkish Airlines, Europe’s Best Airline for six consecutive years according to the Skytrax Passenger Survey.
The Turkish Airlines World Cup has grown every year since the tournament's inception. Beginning with 12 events and 700 players, last year a total of 8,000 players took part globally.
In the Indonesian qualifying event, Mr. Andreas Lesmana won with a total of 43 points (Handicap 24) and progresses to the Grand Final in Antalya, Turkey, this October and November. Mrs. Iris Rothenberg was runner-up, Mr. J.H. Han was third, and Mr. Sinarta.W and Mrs. Dani Yohana won the nearest-the-pin prizes.
“We would like to offer our congratulations to everyone who made the Turkish Airlines World Golf Cup qualifier in Jakarta such a special day,” said Fatih Guldas, General Manager for Turkish Airlines Indonesia. “It was a fantastic tournament day and well done to our winner, Mr. Andreas. They still have so much to play for in Antalya but everyone else will be looking forward to coming back again next year.”
All finalists will enjoy a seven-night stay at the five-star luxury Titanic Deluxe Belek hotel in Antalya, Turkey and will be flown there Business Class from their qualifying destination by Turkish Airlines. The overall winners of the two-round Grand Final at the Titanic Golf Club progress to play in the 2017 Turkish Airlines Open Pro-Am and get VIP passes to the Turkish Airlines Open, the $7,000,000 European Tour event.
If Andreas is able to win the final in Turkey, he’ll have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to play with one of the best players in the world like previous winners Han Liang from China and Neill Bam from Johannesburg, South Africa. Han partnered with world number one and 14-time major champion Tiger Woods in the Turkish Airlines Open Pro-Am, while Neill proved successful in the 2015 series and went on to partner with Rory McIlroy.
