Stepping Forward For The Environment
With the world gradually beginning to turn away from the use of plastics and increasing the emphasis on recycling plastic, Adidas has joined the environmentally conscious movement. The world’s largest golf product manufacturer has unveiled the new Adidas Tour360 XT Parley Shoe, the first eco-friendly footwear option for golfers.
Made from upcycled plastic waste found on beaches and coastal communities, the limited edition Adidas Tour360 XT is the first of its kind in golf. The shoe has been developed and launched in partnership with the environmental organization Parley for the Oceans which works to intercept plastic waste.
The footwear utilizes a special thread created from the raw materials of repurposed and recycled plastic waste to create the unique ocean blue and aqua green upper section of the shoe.
The Tour360 XT Parley is also equipped with an eight-spike outsole with X-Traxion technology to provide superior traction and stability and features a sock-like opening for optimal comfort while also offering full-length Boost cushioning. The 360WRAP in the midfoot provides additional support and stability so that players can stay locked in throughout the swing. The shoes are sold with a one-year waterproof warranty.
“Our company is extremely focused on sustainability and we wanted to incorporate that mission into our sport,” said Masun Denison, global footwear director of Adidas Golf. “This is the first golf shoe we’ve ever made that incorporates upcycled materials and this is just the beginning.”
The launch of the Tour360 XT Parley Shoe demonstrates Adidas’s commitment to the Parley A.I.R. strategy (Avoid, Intercept, Re-Design). The company will continue to increase the use of recycled materials in its apparel and footwear.
