The Open Winner Putter
Henrik Stenson’s success at the 145th Open Championship has popularized the clubs he uses. Arguably the Odyssey White Hot XG #7H putter is the club that helped the most in delivering him to the championship spot. With the White Hot XG, Henrik placed 1st in the most greens in regulation of the Open (77.8%), and scored 8-under (63) in the final round and a total of 20-under (264). So, what advantages does this putter offer?
The Odyssey White Hot XG #7H has gained the nickname “the fang” from its unusual shape that looks like two fangs. This shape makes it easier for the player to get the putter lined up square to the target and to hold the putter steady through the stroke.
According to Odyssey, the White Hot XG is the next generation of White Hot Technology. The putter utilizes a multi-layer insert for phenomenal performance on the green. It combines two materials with different properties to take the level of feedback, feel, and distance control to an all-new, extreme level.
The White Hot XG features:
- Elastomer core material, which has soft for great feel, and highly resilient to get the ball rolling quickly.
- Thin, outer striking surface, which is firm for fine-tuned responsiveness.
- Textured impact zone, which enhances feel and clearly defines the sweet spot.
With this blend of features, the putter allows weight to be shifted to the perimeter of the putter head for a high MOI, creating even better forgiveness and truer roll than previous models.
