Laguna golf bintan unveiled its upgraded oceanfront golf course. Six-time major winner and laguna golf ambassador sir nick faldo hosted the re-opening event.
Attended by 110 invited guests and regional golf media, the grand re-opening event held on 3 – 4 November 2016 comprised a series of activities including a media conference, exclusive golf clinic by Sir Nick Faldo, 18-hole gourmet golf tournament with special Cassia Bintan hole-in-one prize, and evening cocktails followed by a gala awards dinner.
With a complete revamp, Laguna Golf Bintan reopens as an 18-hole, par-72 golf course. The course features awe-inspiring beachfront holes with views of the South China Sea on both the front and back nine, while playing through tranquil lagoons, lush jungle and Bintan’s famous rugged rocks on 60-hectares of tropical paradise.
“The layout of our course in Laguna Bintan is remarkably strong in terms of design and playability. Our main focus of this project has been restoring the green complexes to their original size and structure while giving emphasis to the enhancement of the natural surroundings,” said Paul Wilson, Group Director of Golf of Laguna Golf.
The grand re-opening ceremony was made all the more special by the presence of the six-time major winner and Laguna Golf Ambassador Sir Nick Faldo who hosted the event. At the golf clinic Sir Nick gave valuable golfing tips and techniques to keen golfers.
“I’ve been a big fan of the Banyan Tree brand and visited Banyan Tree Phuket resort 25 years ago. After designing the Laguna Lăng Cô golf course, I am proud to be the ambassador of the Laguna Golf brand,” said Nick.
During the 18-hole gourmet golf tournament, all participants attempted the challenge of making a hole-in-one to win a one-bedroom seafront apartment in Cassia Bintan worth SGD 255,000. The golfers also enjoyed tasting the offerings of five “live” stations showcasing the gastronomy of different resort restaurants and enjoyed a neck and shoulder massage experience at two spa stations operated by the Banyan Tree and Angsana Spas.
The evening cocktails and gala awards dinner took place at Angsana Lotus Café with an entertaining Melayu Dance performance “Colours of Indonesia” and a traditional costume fashion show. Guests of the event had chance to meet Sir Nick Faldo whilst being entertained with a performance by a vibrant band.
